Mrs.
William T. Harvey, born Helen Lindsay Barger, Mrs. Harvey was reared
in Southwest Virginia. She earned her A. B. degree at Roanoke College,
and M.A. at University of Kentucky. Married William T. Harvey and came
to live in Logan, W. Va. Mrs. Harvey taught at Logan High School more
than twenty years until retirement.
A member of the First
Presbyterian Church for fifty years. Twice President of Women of the
Church. Served as Circle Chairman and Bible Moderator. |

Mrs. James Greever, a native of Fayette County, WV, Mrs. Greever
received nurses’ training in Hinton, W. Va. and served as
superintendent of nurses. Later went to Huntington and continued
nursing. She then moved to Logan and married Mr. James E. Greever.
Served as Treasurer of
Ladies’ Bible Class many years. Superintendent of Cradle Roll more
than fifty years. Saw that flowers were available on Sunday for
Sanctuary. Sent cards on behalf of Women of the Church to the sick, to
graduates, etc. Served as Circle Chairman several times. Collected
contributions for approximately 350 hymnals. Mr. Greever originated the
idea of sending memorial gifts to Davis-Stuart. She then took care of
the Memorial Gift Program of the church for a long number of years.
In 1942, Mrs. James E.
Greever took leadership to send 1,312 testaments to boys leaving for the
Armed Services. Mrs. Greever died January 17, 1982. |
