Heifer
Project International
www.heifer.org
Heifer envisions…… A world of communities
living together in peace and equitably sharing the resources of a
healthy planet.
Heifer’s
mission is…… To work with communities to end hunger and poverty and
to care for the earth.
Heifer's
strategy is…… To "pass on the gift." As people share their
animals’ offspring with others – along with their knowledge,
resources, and skills – an expanding network of hope, dignity, and
self-reliance is created that reaches around the globe.
This simple
idea of giving families a source of food rather than short-term relief
caught on and has continued for over 60 years. Today, millions of
families in 128 countries have been given the gifts of self-reliance and
hope.
In search of
the perfect Christmas gift for the person who has everything, an
increasing number of gift givers are buying water buffaloes instead of
Beanie Babies. Gift prices range from $10 to $5,000. For each gift, such
as a $25 goat, a card is sent describing how the donation purchased in
the donor's honor will help a family.
Heifer
International is proud of its many years of support from congregations
of all types. For more information or to place an order call Heifer
International at 1-800-422-0474 or visit their web site at www.heifer.org/catalog

Ronald McDonald House Charities
www.rmhc.org/rmhc/index.html
The three core programs of RMHC - the
Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald
Care Mobile - are focused on helping families in need. Their cornerstone
program Ronald McDonald House began in 1974 based on a simple idea:
Provide a "home away from home" for families of seriously ill
children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. Since that time, more
than 10 million families around the world have benefited from the
comfort provided by a Ronald McDonald House.
The
Ronald McDonald Family Room program extends the comfort of a Ronald
McDonald House to a hospital setting. Typically located just steps from
neonatal or pediatric intensive care units, the Family Room provides a
place to escape the stress and tension of the hospital.

The Fistula Foundation
www.fistulafoundation.org
The Fistula Foundation was founded as American Friends Foundation
for Childbirth Injuries (AFFCI) in 2000 by Richard Haas and his
daughter Shaleece.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has called fistula
"the single most dramatic aftermath of neglected
childbirth". In addition to complete incontinence, a fistula
victim may develop nerve damage to the lower extremities after a
multi-day labor in a squatting position. Fistula victims also suffer
profound psychological trauma resulting from their utter loss of
status and dignity.
An obstetric fistula develops when blood supply
to the tissues of the vagina and the bladder (and/or rectum) is cut
off during prolonged obstructed labor. The tissues die and a hole
forms through which urine and/or feces pass uncontrollably. Women who
develop fistulas are often abandoned by their husbands, rejected by
their communities, and forced to live an isolated existence.
Eradicated in western countries at the end of the 19th century
when cesarean section became widely available, obstetric fistula
continues to plague women throughout the developing world. It is
estimated that there are 100,000 new fistula cases each year, but the
international capacity to treat fistula remains at only 6,500 per
year. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) estimates the world's
population of fistula sufferers at more than two million.

A Greater
Gift - A program of SERRV
www.agreatergift.org
A Greater Gift is a program of
SERRV International, a nonprofit alternative trade and development
organization. Our mission is to promote the social and economic progress
of people in developing regions of the world by marketing their products
in a just and direct manner.
Our goal is to
alleviate poverty and empower low-income people through trade, training
and other forms of capacity building as they work to improve their
lives.
SERRV
International was one of the first alternative trade organizations in
the world and was a founding member of the International Fair Trade
Association (IFAT). We offer our artisan and farmer partners up to 50%
advance payment on orders. This advance helps them to purchase raw
materials and have a more regular income so they can avoid high interest
rates from borrowing locally.
SERRV
International was started in 1949 to help refugees in Europe recover
economically and socially from World War II. The name SERRV is an
acronym for Sales Exchange for Refugee Rehabilitation and Vocation.

The foundation
was the dream of the late Martha Jane Becker who bore all the expenses
to get the Foundation started and provided the first donation July 1997.
It was her belief that you give to the community where you lived and or
where you had a business or other assets that provided your livelihood
or money.
Your gifts
small to large will be put to work right away to support your local
community. Many donors wish to set up a fund (our donors name the fund)
that will become an everlasting endowment for the community. Funds
offered are Field of Interest Fund which is broadly focused on a
specific area of interest, such as youth, conservation, education,
health or other social issue; Scholarship Fund advancing education for
students in two to four year colleges or universities; or a Designated
Fund, Donor Advised, Unrestricted Fund.

www.wvstateparks.com/foundation.htm
"Preserving a
Legacy"
People value our state
parks and forests for a variety of reasons. For some, they are places of
quiet and solitude, where they can get away from daily routines and
refresh mind, body, and soul. How better to do this than to sit by a
campfire listening to great horned owls calling to one another, or to
walk along a secluded trail, where the only sounds you hear are your own
footsteps and the breeze whispering through a pine forest canopy?
To others, state parks
and forests are places to conduct business meetings and seminars, or to
challenge themselves with strenuous recreational activities like
mountain biking and rock climbing. But regardless of the reasons for
visiting these special areas, their value to visitors and to our state
is inestimable.
Public support and
user fees fund day-to-day park operations, maintenance, and limited
capital improvements. Yet, with ever-increasing operating costs, private
support through the West Virginia State Parks Foundation is
critical if we are to improve the quality of state park facilities.
Importantly, gifts received through the Foundation are used to
supplement, not replace, support from the State.
