November 19, 2007
1:00 p.m.

Forty five years ago a woman from New York named Jean Nidetch invited her friends to gather once a week, to share ideas and offer support in a collective effort to lose weight.  Her call to action was the start of Weight Watchers, and today that group of friends has grown to number millions of weight-loss success stories.
It wasn’t Jean’s food plan that was unique.  It was the idea of sharing weight loss with people who could understand what she was going through.  Today, both food plans that form the basis of the Weight Watchers program are unique.  And over the years our Program has expanded to include exercise and behavior change.  But it’s the sharing and caring, the learning and self-discovery that happens during the meetings, that’s at the heart of our success stories.
Because of this legacy, the Group Leader running the Weight Watchers meeting has lost weight with Weight Watchers.  So did the Service Provider at the desk.  Because of this legacy, you can be successful, too.
